Beacon Hill Hot Spot: Afrikando Afrikando

seattle space needleMy dear friend Erich sent me some info and I wanted to share because I was at the wedding and can attest that it was yummy!  Erich and his wife have amazing taste and I love sharing about new or not so new but "back in business" in this case:

A restaurant that's an old fave of mine had closed but has now returned.  Some of you might remember the Senegalese food that was catered when I got married (which coincidentally will be 5 years ago this coming Saturday).  The food was from a restaurant about a block from where I work in Belltown called Afrikando.  Not too long after our wedding, it suddenly closed up with no explanation.  It turns out the chef & owner Jacques had come down with a serious illness, so he had to close shop and went back home to Senegal to recover.  He's all better now and has returned to Seattle, and re-opened the restaurant.  The new location is in Seattle on Rainier Ave S, a few miles south of our house on Beacon Hill.

This evening, we went to dinner there, and we're happy to report that the food is still excellent.  They've only been open about 2 weeks, so the service is kinda slow while they get the kinks ironed out, but it's worth it.  Also, since they have just opened, they aren't setup yet to take credit/debit (cash only), and I don't think they have a liquor license yet.  But the food is plentiful, spicy (Jacques likes habaneros), and reasonably inexpensive, and I recommend it highly.

Here's their new address and such if you're interested in checking it out.  One other thing: they changed their name from Afrikando to Afrikando Afrikando (so great they named it twice!), since apparently while they were closed, they lost their original domain name.

About Me:

Seattle real estate has been a big part of my life for well over a decade since I began my career in real estate, but also before that time when I was in the process of purchasing my own first home.  Buying your first home can be quite overwhelming, but I have managed to help many first time home buyers along the way.

Move up Seattle buyers and other types of specialized purchasing is a great passion of mine!  I love Seattle houseboats and you can find me down on the docks of Lake Union and Portage Bay several times a week.   Other aspects of Seattle real estate that I adore include Queen Anne Real Estate,Wallingford Real EstateBallard Real EstateGreen Lake Real EstateLaurelhurst Real EstateMagnolia Real Estate, andSeattle Waterfront Real Estate.

In addition to being a Seattle residential broker and founder of Cooper Jacobs & Seattle Afloat, I am also a member of CBA (Commercial Brokers Association) and head of the Cooper Jacobs Commercial Division in an effort to provide excellent commercial real estate services to the Seattle commercial real estate industry.  With a background in accounting and management, it is my great pleasure to coordinate our Seattle commercial brokers.
