 Brier is so lucky to have such a wonderful library - it may be little, but this smaller library packs a punch and offers all the same wonderful perks of other Sno-Isle Regional libraries.  Check out DVDs, CDs, books, etc., and the children's reading section is adorable.

I love the convenient online ordering system, too - there is no need to have a huge library if you can order anything in the entire system to be picked up at your local library.  Go through their catalog and order as much as you want - they call to tell you that the items are at the building for pick up and will hold them for a few days if it isn't convenient to pick them all up right away.  There is also a really easy slot for dropping the items back off once you are finished.  If you forget - they will call you, but won't charge you unless you loose something. 

Brier Residents already have a lot of great features in their city, but the Brier WA library is a definite asset!

Recently the Edmonds school district temporarily closed a walking trail behind Mountlake Terrace High School.  The trail is a vital transportation route for many students who live in both Brier and Mountlake Terrace and keeps them off of more congested streets.  Apparently there was some concern over the lack of supervision for students in these areas and whether or not the trails were being used properly.  Angry parents were told that the City of Brier was responsible for closing the gates and the city thought that maybe it was the Mountlake Terrace Police or the high school itself.  After many phone calls, it was discovered that it definitely was the school district and there was a definite lack of due process which occurred. 

The school district failed to realize one of the key reasons why so many people had moved to these neighborhoods and that was the fabulous system of interconnecting walking trails!  All of the neighborhoods around Brier Elementary, Cedar Way Elementary, Brier Middle School, and Mountlake Terrace High School connect by trails so that the children in those areas do not have to walk on busy and congested streets to get to their schools and back home.  It is a brilliant system and also amazing for fitness walkers or just casual outdoor enthusiasts.  Cutting off the trail to the high school through Castle Crest 2 was a poor decision and one that the school district quickly remedied!
