An Open Letter To Asset Managers:

seattle real estatePlease please please check up on your listings and see if they are being handled properly and efficiently!!!

Here is what happened:

I called to check availability on a big shot REO listing agent's listing because my client was ready to write. Guess what?  It is not available even though it is clearly marked as "active" in the MLS.  It hasn't been available for a few days because they are technically waiting on one piece of paper from the buyer.  Well, okay, that makes sense.  It is frustrating, but not wrong by any means.

So I ask, "  When do you expect to get the final paperwork back?"

I am told, "Today."

I say, " Can you please call me if for any reason it does not go through and the property is again available?  My client is ready to write an offer."

Long pause..............

The response?

Wait for it.....

"I manage sixty properties so I may be able to call you back."

Another long pause.....

I finally break the silence and say, "Well, would you like my phone number?"

Pause again.

"Well, Okay."

OK...Seriously?

Is this acting on your client's behalf?  I know I will not get that return call and have already made a note to call and nag her this afternoon, but I am appalled that an REO agent should think that they are too busy to call a back up buyer if a deal falls through.  I was only asking for a call back if it fell through - not for a general status check.

Maybe Mr. or Ms. Asset Manager, you should do a little investigating and see how your assets are being treated in the hands of these agents who apparently can "service" sixty properties.  This is not the way to manage a property!

When the market was hotter, it seemed perfectly reasonable for an REO agent to be extremely busy and call all the shots, but in my opinion, you should not be listing with a company or agent who is so full of themselves that they are not willing to provide customer service and make sure your property is SOLD as efficiently and of course for the most return on your investment as possible.  You need an agent who is willing to be flexible and get the job done RIGHT!!!!!

End rant:)

Move up Seattle buyers and other types of specialized purchasing is a great passion of mine!  I love Seattle houseboats and you can find me down on the docks of Lake Union and Portage Bay several times a week.   Other aspects of Seattle real estate that I adore include Queen Anne Real Estate,Wallingford Real EstateBallard Real EstateGreen Lake Real EstateLaurelhurst Real EstateMagnolia Real Estate, andSeattle Waterfront Real Estate.

In addition to being a Seattle residential broker and founder of Cooper Jacobs & Seattle Afloat, I am also a member of CBA (Commercial Brokers Association) and head of the Cooper Jacobs Commercial Division in an effort to provide excellent commercial real estate services to the Seattle commercial real estate industry.  With a background in accounting and management, it is my great pleasure to coordinate our Seattle commercial brokers.
