Seattle Gardening Tip: Storing All Those Tools!

seattle gardeningA great idea...

One of my clients had his garden shed so organized that I had to steal one of his ideas and share it!

Look at the clever way he hangs tools, shovels, and extension cords!

Easy...

A few simple scraps of woods and all the garden tools are in order!  My solar garden shed has this now, too!

Happy Gardening!

Green Gardening in Seattle & Green Real Estate: Washington Toxics Coalition Contact Info

Looking for resources for green gardening in Seattle?

The Washington Toxics Coalition has a wonderful site for your education!  They also offer cute little signs for your yard in exchange for pledging to a few things...  I have seen these in some local Seattle front yards and I love that people are willing to show how much they care.

Seattle Green Gardening is Just The Beginning...

Green gardening is a huge part of going green in Seattle overall and pesticides have no place in my garden, but the Washington Toxics Coalition has information for the entire household that range from garden info to cleaning products to art and hobby materials or building materials that are toxic.  This is great information to have on hand for anyone who is thinking about green remodeling or looking into the Built Green program.

Seattle Gardening Season... Got a little depressed at the flower store today:(

solar shedI love gardening in Seattle - we have such a great climate for it, but this year summer just barely got here and right when I am seeing my stuff really take off in the garden, I am suddenly realizing that winter will be here again much sooner than I would like!

I already have a solar shed and that isn't even enough for this year!  My tomatoes are blossoming, but no fruit yet.  My tomatillos are flowering, but nothing else yet.  My cilantro and basil have grown, but not hugely so.  My oregano seems to be year round and spreading all over my yard so if anyone out there needs oregano call me. I have the traditional take-over-your-garden mint.  I have corn growing but only a couple feet tall so far.  My pepper plants all look fabulously healthy, but no peppers!!!!  My squash is blossoming, but no squash yet.  I know I must have started too late because I have toured a few neighborhood P-Patches recently and they put me to shame.  I mean, I suck in comparison.  Eventually, though, I will have produce in this Seattle suburb back yard!!!

I will have an abundance of good harvest...for about a week before winter hits, right? I will start sooner next year - January maybe?  Do I need to buy grow lights and start my garden in the garage to make sure I have delicious tomatoes in the summer and all summer long?

OK - I know I am ranting, but I worked so hard!  Today when I went to the garden store, the roses were all gone and they were sold out of a ton of other plants.  This signalled to me the beginning of the end of our Seattle summer:(  - Green Tomatoes anyone?

I love Seattle - I just wanted a little more of the sun this year already.  Real Estate anyone? I would love to see your garden pictures!

Seattle Weather Getting You Down? It is Perfect For Yard Work!

seattle real estate

AAAh...the lovely weather!

Why not take advantage of the lack of burning hot sun and get out there and spruce up your curb appeal?  It is amazing what a little can do and between my work appointments, I try to get out there as much as possible. Why?  Because my entire yard is a haven for weeds!

Projects.....

Here is a picture from one of my old projects on another house (my first house:)) - Raised bed and trellis were put in right over grass where there was nothing before.  Lots of color.  The whole thing really dressed up an otherwise ugly side of the house!

You can read more about my current project here:

Curb appeal gardening

Happy weeding!
