Seattle Cell Phone Recycling: Go Green & Recycle Your Cell Phone While Providing Scholarships!

Looking for what to do with any of those old cell phones you have sitting in your junk drawer?  Seattle King County Association of Realtors sent me a great idea for what to do with them, so I am volunteering to collect your old cell phone for you to support this cell phone recycling drive in Seattle.  Proceeds go toward scholarships through the Seattle First Citizen Scholarship.

According to SKCAR, here are some of the things that could happen to your old cell phone:

1.  I f the phone is good and still holds a market value then it will be sold and the proceeds will go to the Seattle First Citizen Scholarship Fund.

2. If the phone is good but doesn't hold a market value then it will be sent to a women's shelter or an elderly care facility to be used for 911 call capabilities.

3.  If the phone is not working then it is basically scrapped and will be recycled for its precious metals.

According to SKCAR, this is why recycling those old phones is so important:

Cell-phone recycling is very important because mobile phones contain toxic elements like Mercury, Cadmium, Lead, Gallium Arsenide and other landfill hazards. Reuse transforms a potentially toxic discard into a valuable commodity. Cell phones that cannot be reused will be recycled for their metals and plastics in accordance with federal and local environmental standards.

So go green and donate your old cell phone to this great cause!  Email me for a pick up: realestate@cooperjacobs.com
