It always happens to other people, but not me...
OK, it happened to me! Someone racked thousands of $$$$$ on my credit card...in one day!!!! I have seen this happen so much in my profession - a buyer will get a surprise from the lender: It seems there are some issues with their mortgage because of an identity theft issue. Amazing how often it happens.
Well apparently, yesterday I was in Great Britain, Spain, AND Minnesota charging up my credit card - you know, buying all the usual: computer equipment, tuition, etc. Geez! Luckily, I did nip it in the bud, but only because I happen to be paying bills yesterday and noticed all the charges coming through online - yikes!
The lesson: not sure? Check your accounts often! I did not lose my card and I cross cut shred everything and then mix it in with food scraps for composting. This was not my fault so I now know it can happen to anyone.
